Diving and Snorkelling
The Mnemba Atoll is one of the best diving and snorkelling spots in the Indian Ocean, where majestic Whale sharks can be seen making their journey to the South and one can swim with friendly and charming Bottlenose dolphins and famous green Sea turtles.

The atoll which recently has been declared a marine conservation area offers a unique opportunity to both divers and snorkelers to experience the best of Zanzibar’s underwater world. At the reef you can see a wealth of marine creatures ranging from colourful tropical reef fish to rare gem-like species of Nudibranchs. Between the months of August and November and again in February, the Whale shark migration brings these magnificent mammals close to the shores of Zanzibar.

Walking and Cycling on the Beach

The white, soft and pristine sandy Beach of Matemwe expands more than 15 km along the coast. During low tide you can easily access the Beach directly from the Hotel and, during high tide, it is a 5 minutes’ walk along the path to descend to the beach.

A nice and easy stroll on the Beach is a must. One gets more fun by using a bicycle during low tide with the refreshing breeze blowing on your face. Your ride will be rewarded with stunning views, local boys playing football, fishermen, and local ladies collecting the sea weed. Always ensure you have enough sun cream and water with you.

Fishing & Dhow cruises

Fishing trips can be organized using a small local “Dhow” sailing boat - an opportunity to experience an eco-friendly style of fishing. For those with an adventurous spirit, the Hotel can also arrange Octopus fishing in the lagoon during low tide. The same goes for day and night excursions on local Dhows.
